Join us as we head to Nordkapp and the North Cape, the northernmost part of Europe. The journey goes through stunning scenery with fjords, endless ocean and cliff coast.

The end of the road and of mainland Europe

You can’t drive further North within mainland Europe and we made it to the end of the road. 30 minutes later, with the weather closing in we were evacuated from Nordkapp and started the journey home with some seriously sketchy snow and ice descents.

Why Norway?

Quite simply our 2019 trip to Tromsø was amazing. Anyone who has been to Scandinavia will tell you that you can’t just visit once. Nordkapp is above the Arctic Circle and famed as a viewing point for colourful Northern Lights.

The Northern Lights, take 2

2019 was a fantastic trip but the Northen Lights hid from us so this could be the year we see then at the furthest point north.

The Northern Lights are formed when solar particles collide with the Earth’s atmosphere. Thanks to the low magnetism of the poles, these particles are attracted towards the ends of the globe. The intensity of the solar particles is measured by the KP index on a scale of 0 to 9. The higher this KP index value, the further away from the poles the Northern Lights can be seen. Or, to put it another way, the further north we move in Norway, the more likely we will be to see the Aurora.
